Last year we won the ASEAN Climate Impact Innovation Challenge (CIIC) sponsored by the Tagar#TemasekFoundation Singapore. One of the tools we used to win the challenge was a simple tool we called Ecogas SmartTube (EST) as in the picture below. How can a simple tool like this win a prestigious competition whose final was held at the same event as the ASEAN Summit?

This simple tool is a model that we can take real action to reduce climate change. Our earth, which is boiling continuously, breaking records for its highest heat, must be braked with all our might , so that our earth can become a comfortable place to live for us and our descendants in the future.

EST produces gas in-situ and in-time, only where and when it is needed, so there is no need to import propane and butane gas for our LPG feedstocks. With charcoal made from whatever biomass is abundant around us - we can produce our own gas.

The gas produced by EST can be used directly for cooking and various heating needs in MSMEs and industry - just make it the right size. Even if necessary, the quality of the gas can be improved to become hydrogen-rich syngas, so that it can be directly used to produce advanced fuels such as diesel, gasoline, LPG, etc.

How can this simple EST play a role in mitigating climate change? For every kg of LPG that is replaced by gas from EST, around 3 kg of CO2 emissions become carbon-neutral. So in just one month you use this EST to replace the need for a 12 kg LPG cylinder, you will have contributed to reducing CO2 emissions by 36 kg. You can imagine if this is also done together with MSMEs and industry, there would be a lot of CO2 that we could neutralize together.

Not only is the direct impact of reducing CO2 emissions triggered by the use of EST, the carbon foot print of domestic energy will also drop drastically. There is no longer a need for LPG (feedstocks) that need to be transported halfway across the globe and then distributed throughout the country. Energy subsidies will also be greatly reduced, and people can be directly involved in the green energy economy.

We need partners from environmental activists, ESG practitioners, cooperatives and various related NGOs to be able to promote this simple but effective climate action. A demo of using EST can be watched in the following video: https://lnkd.in/g9wxPCy8
